Technical FAQ

    • Which type of switches do I have to use, PCB mount or Plate mount ones?
      • The only difference between the two is that PCB mount has two additional plastic legs for better alignment on a PCB. Either type is compatible with Keebio PCBs, and if given the choice, PCB mount is preferable to keep switches aligned better.
    • Can I use hotswap sockets?
      • Holtites: Not recommended, they suck, use them if you want to have a bad time
      • Mill-Max: From hearing reports from other users, they are alright
      • Outemu sockets: Yes, but they only fit Outemu switches or Pandas
      • Kailh hotswap sockets: No, PCBs have to specifically be designed for them. See the image below that shows the parts that can't fit onto the PCB.

Ordering

  • I need to add more items to an order I've already placed, that hasn’t shipped yet, what can I do?
    • Contact us with a detailed list of what items you’d like to add (screenshot of items in cart helps), and we will modify the order and invoice you for the difference.
  • Can I pre-order items, or can I place an order for some parts and have you hold them?
    • Sorry, we do not do pre-orders for items or order holds for anything over 2 weeks due to logistical reasons.
  • Do you accept PayPal?
    • No, we no longer accept PayPal. PayPal has business practices and policies that we do not agree with, such as keeping the 3% transaction fee on refunds. Additionally, credit cards provide better buyer protection and safety features anyway compared to what PayPal offers, if that is your concern. Also, we offer other good payment alternatives such as Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, and Google Pay.

    Shipping

    • Where do you ship from?
      • All of our items are shipped from Durham, NC, USA.
      • Do you ship internationally?
        • Yes, we do ship internationally.
        • Note that international shipping takes approximately 7-28 days depending on the destination.
        • International shipments may be subject to customs fees, import duties, and taxes, which are the responsibility of the buyer.
        • It is recommended that you leave Route Shipping Protection on during checkout due to the frequency of delivery issues for international packages with postal services.
          • Do note that claims must be filed within 60 days of the order and within 30 days of last tracking update.
      • Is there a tracking number for packages?
        • Yes, each package will have a tracking number that will automatically be emailed to you when we ship.
        • NOTE: We do not have any additional information about packages other than what you see with the tracking number that is sent to you.
        • International shipments
          • If you select First Class International, there is no guaranteed delivery, so use this method at your own risk. The tracking number will track the package until it leaves the U.S., might not update afterwards. We are not responsible for any lost or damaged items.
          • Only some countries have additional tracking for First Class after it leaves the U.S. (Typically, the last destination marked is Jamaica in New York).
          • If you have Route Shipping Protection applied to the order, and it has been a 2-3 weeks since the tracking status last updated, file a lost package claim with Route: File a Claim
            • NOTE: You only have 30 days from last tracking status update to file a claim
          • Priority International and Priority Express International is tracked until it reaches its destination.
          • If you select DHL, you will be able to see all tracking updates.
      • When will my order ship?
        • Your order will be shipped within 3-4 business days. We operate Monday through Friday, except for holidays. Typically, orders are filled every other day (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) and shipped out the day after it has been packed.
      • My package was marked as delivered but I did not receive it, what should I do?
        • NOTE: We do not have any additional information about packages other than what you see in the tracking information.
        • For people in the U.S., contact USPS. If you use that contact link, your local post office will get in touch with you. You can also contact your local post office directly. Sometimes, the package will be delivered a few days after this Delivered status. Please wait at least 3-4 business days before contacting us.
        • International: Once the package leaves the U.S., USPS no longer has any control over it. Contact your local postal service. Also contact your local postal service if there is a customs issue, as we are unable to resolve these.

        • Best way to get support is to post on Reddit in the /r/olkb subreddit, as we monitor that one constantly, and other experienced builders are there to help.

        • How do you pronounce the name of the store?
          • It's just one word, Keebio (KEE-bee-oh).
          • Not Keeb-dot-io, that's just the easy way to remember the website URL.
